Bobby McFerrin uses an unsuspecting audience to demonstrate the inherent understanding of the pentatonic scale. Hats off to you, Carl Orff (and Bobby McFerrin).

Thanks, Jake!

  • Anyone in the world can understand this because it is so basic. One tone is always referrenced by and with another.

  • Carl Orff was not the only proponent of pentatony; the fact that the audience was able to SING the tones (rather than plunk them out on xylophones) is a better demonstration of the philosophies of Zoltan Kodaly. But thanks for sharing! Bobby McFerrin is great!
