Lol the funniest part was when the camera zoomed out, and you saw all of the percussion section rush out the exit door.

If you slow down the footage, you’ll see that he actually broke the mallet, pierced his nose and fashioned the mallet into a nose ring; all in a split second. Or, at least that’s what it looks like.
